关于客户
Bayer is a global enterprise with core competencies in the life science fields of healthcare and nutrition. The company is committed to driving sustainable development and generating a positive impact with its businesses. Bayer has a heritage of over 100 years in radiology and is dedicated to providing innovative products and high-quality services to support efficient and optimized patient care. The company offers a leading portfolio of contrast media for computed tomography (CT), X-ray, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), along with devices for their precise administration, informatics solutions, and a medical imaging platform delivering access to applications, including those enabled by AI. Bayer's radiology products generated about €2 billion in sales in 2023. The company is highly committed to research and development, leveraging AI to drive innovation in medical imaging. Bayer employs around 100,000 people and had sales of 47.6 billion euros in fiscal 2023.
挑战
Radiologists face significant challenges due to the increasing volume of medical imaging data, which accounts for about 90% of all healthcare data. This data is complex and requires efficient handling and interpretation to improve patient outcomes. The workload for radiologists is growing as billions of medical images are scanned globally each year. This situation necessitates the development of supportive AI tools to manage and analyze the vast amount of data efficiently. Additionally, there is a need for scalable and compliant AI-powered medical imaging software products that can handle this data while ensuring data security and compliance with healthcare regulations.
解决方案
Bayer and Google Cloud have collaborated to develop an innovation platform that accelerates the development and deployment of AI-powered healthcare applications, focusing on radiology. The platform is built on Google Cloud and utilizes tools like Vertex AI, BigQuery, Healthcare API, and Chronicle. It provides a cloud-native pipeline from product idea to launch, enabling users to analyze and experiment with AI-powered data analysis, design breakthrough healthcare solutions, and explore regulatory and scientific information. Developers can scale and engineer solutions using generative AI assistance for ideation, development, validation, and lifecycle management. The platform also facilitates the generation of documents aligned with healthcare requirements to aid in gaining regulatory approval. Healthcare and life science companies can deploy AI medical solutions standardized for flexible integration across compatible healthcare systems and analyze field data for insights, bias detection, and continuous improvement. The platform aims to bring innovative medical imaging tools to market faster and more cost-effectively, with a first version for extended testing planned for release later this year in the EU and US.

Hospital Inventory Management
The hospital supply chain team is responsible for ensuring that the right medical supplies are readily available to clinicians when and where needed, and to do so in the most efficient manner possible. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals. Barcoding technology, a commonly used method for inventory management of medical supplies, is labor intensive, time consuming, does not provide real-time visibility into inventory levels and can be prone to error. Consequently, the lack of accurate and real-time visibility into inventory levels across multiple supply rooms in multiple hospital facilities creates additional inefficiency in the system causing over-ordering, hoarding, and wasted supplies. Other sources of waste and cost were also identified as candidates for improvement. Existing systems and processes did not provide adequate security for high-cost inventory within the hospital, which was another driver of cost. A lack of visibility into expiration dates for supplies resulted in supplies being wasted due to past expiry dates. Storage of supplies was also a key consideration given the location of the cancer center’s facilities in a dense urban setting, where space is always at a premium. In order to address the challenges outlined above, the hospital sought a solution that would provide real-time inventory information with high levels of accuracy, reduce the level of manual effort required and enable data driven decision making to ensure that the right supplies were readily available to clinicians in the right location at the right time.

Driving Digital Transformations for Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices
Diagnostic devices play a vital role in helping to improve healthcare delivery. In fact, an estimated 60 percent of the world’s medical decisions are made with support from in vitrodiagnostics (IVD) solutions, such as those provided by Roche Diagnostics, an industry leader. As the demand for medical diagnostic services grows rapidly in hospitals and clinics across China, so does the market for IVD solutions. In addition, the typically high cost of these diagnostic devices means that comprehensive post-sales services are needed. Wanteed to improve three portions of thr IVD:1. Remotely monitor and manage IVD devices as fixed assets.2. Optimizing device availability with predictive maintenance.3. Recommending the best IVD solution for a customer’s needs.
