关于客户
HCA Healthcare, based in Nashville, is one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services. It operates 182 hospitals and approximately 2,300 ambulatory sites of care, including surgery centers, freestanding ERs, urgent care centers, and physician clinics, across 20 states and the United Kingdom. Founded in 1968, HCA Healthcare pioneered a new model for hospital care in the United States, focusing on strengthening hospitals, delivering patient-focused care, and improving medical practices. The organization is a learning health system, utilizing over 37 million annual patient encounters to advance science, improve patient care, and save lives. HCA Healthcare has conducted numerous clinical studies, including one that demonstrated the benefits of full-term delivery over early elective delivery and another that identified a protocol to reduce bloodstream infections in ICU patients by 44%.
挑战
HCA Healthcare, a leading healthcare provider, faced challenges in improving workflow efficiency and reducing the administrative burden on physicians and nurses. The time-consuming nature of clinical documentation was identified as a significant barrier, limiting the time healthcare professionals could spend with patients. According to a study in JAMA Internal Medicine, 58% of physicians reported that documentation time constraints affected their ability to focus on patient care. Additionally, the manual and time-consuming process of patient handoffs between nurses often resulted in varying levels of detail, impacting continuity, consistency, patient safety, and clinical quality. HCA Healthcare aimed to address these challenges by leveraging advanced technology to streamline processes and enhance the quality of care provided to patients.
解决方案
HCA Healthcare collaborated with Google Cloud and Augmedix to implement generative AI technology aimed at improving clinical documentation workflows. As part of a pilot program, approximately 75 emergency room physicians at four HCA Healthcare hospitals began using Google's AI technology to document key medical information from patient conversations. The Augmedix app, used on a hands-free device, creates accurate and timely medical notes from clinician-patient interactions. The platform leverages natural language processing and Google Cloud's generative AI technology to convert data into medical notes, which physicians review and finalize before transferring to the hospital's electronic health record (EHR). Additionally, HCA Healthcare's Care Transformation and Innovation team developed a system using Google Cloud's large language models (LLMs) to automate patient handoff reports between nurses. This system promotes continuity, consistency, patient safety, and clinical quality while saving nurses significant time. The nurse handoff tool is undergoing testing at UCF Lake Nona Hospital, with positive feedback from nurses regarding the speed, accuracy, and relevance of the draft reports generated.

Hospital Inventory Management
The hospital supply chain team is responsible for ensuring that the right medical supplies are readily available to clinicians when and where needed, and to do so in the most efficient manner possible. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals. Barcoding technology, a commonly used method for inventory management of medical supplies, is labor intensive, time consuming, does not provide real-time visibility into inventory levels and can be prone to error. Consequently, the lack of accurate and real-time visibility into inventory levels across multiple supply rooms in multiple hospital facilities creates additional inefficiency in the system causing over-ordering, hoarding, and wasted supplies. Other sources of waste and cost were also identified as candidates for improvement. Existing systems and processes did not provide adequate security for high-cost inventory within the hospital, which was another driver of cost. A lack of visibility into expiration dates for supplies resulted in supplies being wasted due to past expiry dates. Storage of supplies was also a key consideration given the location of the cancer center’s facilities in a dense urban setting, where space is always at a premium. In order to address the challenges outlined above, the hospital sought a solution that would provide real-time inventory information with high levels of accuracy, reduce the level of manual effort required and enable data driven decision making to ensure that the right supplies were readily available to clinicians in the right location at the right time.

Driving Digital Transformations for Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices
Diagnostic devices play a vital role in helping to improve healthcare delivery. In fact, an estimated 60 percent of the world’s medical decisions are made with support from in vitrodiagnostics (IVD) solutions, such as those provided by Roche Diagnostics, an industry leader. As the demand for medical diagnostic services grows rapidly in hospitals and clinics across China, so does the market for IVD solutions. In addition, the typically high cost of these diagnostic devices means that comprehensive post-sales services are needed. Wanteed to improve three portions of thr IVD:1. Remotely monitor and manage IVD devices as fixed assets.2. Optimizing device availability with predictive maintenance.3. Recommending the best IVD solution for a customer’s needs.
