About The Customer
Sodexo is a global leader in Quality of Life services, serving 100 million consumers daily through a unique combination of On-site Services, Benefits & Rewards Services, and Personal and Home Services. Operating in 64 countries, Sodexo caters to various sectors, including businesses, schools, universities, agencies, governments, and health and senior care. The company is committed to supporting new trends and consumer expectations by transitioning its B2B business models to B2B2C. Sodexo aims to improve user experience for its customers, consumers, and employees while enabling faster deployment of new applications through Infrastructure-as-Code and automation. The company values having a consolidated corporate repository and using DNS and IPAM as key enablers to achieve these objectives.
The Challenge
Sodexo, a global leader in Quality of Life services, needed to enhance digital services for clients, consumers, and employees. The company aimed to improve performance and user experience, particularly for the Office 365 suite, and incorporate Microsoft Azure to provide an agile technology environment. The challenge was to transform the network for robustness and facilitate the rollout of apps and IT infrastructure. Additionally, Sodexo needed to eliminate data silos and implement a central IPAM to support new trends and consumer expectations. The company was transitioning its B2B business models to B2B2C and required improvements in user experience for customers, consumers, and employees. Faster deployment of new apps through Infrastructure-as-Code and automation was also a priority.
The Solution
Sodexo implemented a central repository for the entire corporation using EfficientIP IPAM to consolidate data silos into a single data lake. This provided full network topology visibility across Azure and on-premise environments from a single viewpoint. IP address blocks were delegated to regional teams for local management of subnets, offering flexibility, autonomy, and control. The IPAM included entries with rich naming conventions, site identification, and country, along with metadata for business activity, location, and technical contact information. This streamlined data qualification and control consistency. Automation, Infrastructure as Code, and rich IPAM data were used to link with other ecosystem components through API. Integration with Forescout enriched the database with network topology information, and Azure cloud integration ensured Vnet topology synchronization in the IPAM. Infrastructure as Code was orchestrated with Azure DevOps for all Azure deployment servers and components. Tight integration with the security ecosystem ensured service coherence end-to-end, allowing security policies to be enforced based on an up-to-date topology. API integration between the NAC solution and IPAM enriched information with business metadata and provisioned segment location information.
Operational Impact
  • The new consolidated IP data lake has simplified and unified management across Sodexo's entire infrastructure, improving collaboration between teams and giving autonomy to local teams while maintaining central control.
  • IPAM has been well adopted by local teams, providing a 'single-source-of-truth' central repository of all IP-related information, enhancing visibility and control over on-prem and Cloud environments.
  • The global repository containing IP 'Golden Records' has connected management and security silos, using advanced automation enabled by an integrated ecosystem of tools, ensuring data consistency and error-free configurations.
  • Automation has significantly accelerated time to service for apps and infrastructure, improving agility for change management.
  • Performance has been improved with the introduction of DNS hubs, enhancing the user experience for IT clients and employees.
