About The Customer
ARM Holdings is a multinational company known for its advanced processor designs and IoT technology. The company operates in various sectors, including technology and real estate, and is committed to enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of its facilities. ARM's facilities include a mix of legacy buildings and new constructions, which leverage different types of connectivity and provide varying degrees of data availability and accessibility. The company values transparency in energy data collection and aims to improve occupant comfort and productivity while achieving energy efficiency. ARM's collaboration with Verdigris reflects its commitment to integrating advanced technology into its operations to achieve these goals.
The Challenge
Advancements in connectivity, data storage, and cloud services are digitizing and connecting people to devices and their surroundings. Verdigris elevates these technologies with its smart energy meter and building data platform. The systems collect and analyze energy data to provide insights to make buildings intelligent and responsive. The industry is competitive and crowded with a variety of technology options and offerings. Navigating the range of value propositions with buzzwords like big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning can be daunting and overwhelming. Smart buildings use data and connectivity to be predictive, preventative, and responsive. Verdigris systems support three pillars of enterprise smart buildings: environmental and cost savings, comfort, and business resilience.
The Solution
ARM collaborated with Verdigris to implement smart energy metering and building data platforms in its facilities. The Verdigris systems collect and analyze energy data, providing insights to make buildings intelligent and responsive. ARM's first objective was to bring transparency to the energy data it collects from its facilities. The relationship expanded to the US in Austin, Texas, for a mixed-use laboratory and office space. Verdigris systems provide granularity on energy consumption for ARM spaces and helped achieve advanced monitoring points for US Green Building certification. In 2019, Verdigris deployed systems in a new building in San Jose, California, aiming to integrate Verdigris into areas with existing building management systems (BMS). This capability will help control building HVAC equipment for optimized environmental comfort and energy demand management through forecasting and adaptive automation.
Operational Impact
  • Verdigris systems enable a work environment that increases employee comfort, happiness, and productivity.
  • The systems provide energy efficiency, automation, and transparency in building operations.
  • ARM's collaboration with Verdigris reflects its commitment to integrating advanced technology into its operations.
  • The relationship between ARM and Verdigris is unique as ARM technology is used inside the Verdigris product.
  • The processing core in Verdigris systems uses the ARM Cortex-A8 processor, enabling unique feature extraction and computational capability.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Green building owners have reported an asset value more than 10% greater than traditional buildings.
  • Over 5% decrease in operating costs for green buildings.
  • Employees working in green buildings were over 50% better at making decisions.
