The company's projects involved designing and delivering targeted online surveys, performing statistical analysis of the data, and creating customer-facing presentations to communicate the findings. This process was time-intensive and manual, and any changes to the data required updating everything individually. Furthermore, the owner of Audience Audit, Susan Baier, had to work through the data herself to parse out key insights and share its story with her clients. The challenge was to find a way to make the work more accessible to agency clients, which would require major changes.
The Solution
Baier decided to use Tableau, a tool she had previously heard about and had lobbied previous employers to use. She hired Michael Cristiani of Powerhouse Factories, a leading Tableau Community member, to build an initial workbook. Baier then tried to replicate the workbook herself, reverse-engineering it and figuring out how to build it. She now uses Tableau exclusively for presenting results to clients. Baier appreciates the ability to allow her clients to dig into their own data through using packaged workbooks and the free Tableau Reader application. While the advanced statistical analysis portion of Baier’s services remain the same, she estimates that using Tableau allows her to complete the rest of the analytics and deliver results 90 percent faster than before.
