About The Customer
Bandsintown is a concert discovery app that allows users to track their favorite artists, receive alerts when they are touring near them, keep track of which shows they have RSVP’d to, and share concert details with their friends. Founded in 2004, Bandsintown has over 25 million users, a global reach of 120 million music fans, and over 230 thousand connected artists, making it the world’s most popular concert discovery app. Bandsintown wanted to add a social aspect to their app by connecting users with their friends and providing artists with a new way to reach their fan base.
The Challenge
In 2015, Bandsintown, a popular concert discovery app, decided to add a feed to their application. The goal was to provide artists with a new way to reach their fan base and to bring a social aspect to Bandsintown by connecting users with their friends. Despite their team's substantial experience with Cassandra, they decided not to build an in-house solution. They were looking for a proven service that could handle the feeds for their 25 million strong user base, and that could scale up and down to meet the fluctuations in traffic caused by concert announcements.
The Solution
Bandsintown chose to use Stream to power their feeds. Stream's flat, aggregated, and notification feed types were easy to configure from their simple and intuitive dashboard. When a new concert was announced, Bandsintown used the add_to_many API endpoint to quickly write an activity to millions of interested users. Stream's API automatically scaled up and down to meet the changing workload. By using Stream, Bandsintown was able to focus on their product and build a scalable solution in days, a process that would have taken months, if not longer, if they had chosen to build a feed without Stream.

Intelligent Building Automation System and Energy Saving Solution
One of the most difficult problems facing the world is conserving energy in buildings. However, it is not easy to have a cost-effective solution to reduce energy usage in a building. One solution for saving energy is to implement an intelligent building automation system (BAS) which can be controlled according to its schedule. In Indonesia a large university with a five floor building and 22 classrooms wanted to save the amount of energy being used.
