About The Customer

Bank of Tibet Co.,Ltd provides commercial banking services. The Company offers deposits, loans, securities brokerage, financial transactions, wealth management, and other services. Bank of Tibet provides services throughout China.

Founded in 2011 and opened in 2012, Bank of Tibet is the first local banking institution of the autonomous region of Tibet. By late 2017, the bank has nine branches and business outlets and total assets of around $10.2 billion.

The Challenge

Build Two Green and Efficient Data Centers in Four Months

Over a period of just four months, the Bank of Tibet needed to complete hardware procurement and software testing for two data centers and have them ready to go live. The two data centers needed an active-active configuration to ensure data security and business continuity, and allow the Bank of Tibet to meet the requirements for green and efficient data centers.

The Solution

Secure Data Storage, High Data Availability, and Same-City Disaster Recovery

  1. Two VSP G1000s with all-flash allow high-speed access to underlying data. Global-active device’s active-active configuration ensures continuous application availability between the two geographic sites. This storage was chosen for its ability to support a heterogeneous environment, including Oracle RAC and non-Oracle applications.
  2. VSP G800 with all-flash and Hitachi NAS Platform 4060 modules provide high-performance data access and disaster recovery between the two data centers.
  3. Hitachi Unified Compute Platform CI was later implemented to improve total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization over five years.
Operational Impact
  • [Efficiency Improvement - IT]

With its two new data centers, Bank of Tibet now has a fully redundant IT infrastructure, from databases, servers and networks to the storage of the underlying data.

Quantitative Benefit
    • Data retrieval is more than five times faster.
    • Data-carrying capacity has more than doubled.
