About The Customer
Catari Indústria S.A. is a Portugal-based company that has been designing and manufacturing metal scaffolding solutions for over 40 years. The company uses BricsCAD Pro in its design department, along with PON CAD, a BricsCAD BRX application. From its headquarters in Vale de Cambra, Project Engineer Marcelo Magalhães designs, analyzes, and creates cost estimates for scaffolding projects. The company prides itself on its ability to streamline its design process, from reading files received from clients to developing 3D models and creating cost estimates for scaffolding projects.
The Challenge
Catari Indústria S.A., a Portugal-based company with over 40 years of experience in designing and manufacturing metal scaffolding solutions, was seeking to streamline its design process. The company was using about 15 seats of BricsCAD Pro in their design department, along with PON CAD, a BricsCAD BRX application built by MEC CAD of Udine, Italy. However, the company was looking for ways to enhance its workflow, from reading files received from clients to developing 3D models and creating cost estimates for scaffolding projects. The challenge was to find a solution that could seamlessly integrate with their existing systems, provide 3D modeling functionality, and support the conversion and export of DWG files for structural analysis calculations.
The Solution
The solution came in the form of integrating PON CAD with BricsCAD Pro. This integration added 3D scaffolding design workflows to BricsCAD Pro, enabling Catari to streamline its design process. The company could now use all of the 3D modeling functions of BricsCAD, which proved to be of great help in their work. PON CAD, which runs on BricsCAD, became a must-have tool for the company. The pricing and type of licensing were also important factors for Catari. After testing the trial versions, the company found that BricsCAD offered the same potential as other CAD software but at a lower cost. This integration allowed Catari to own a product and save a lot of time and money on projects.

Revolutionizing Medical Training in India: GSL Smart Lab and the LAP Mentor
The GSL SMART Lab, a collective effort of the GSL College of Medicine and the GSL College of Nursing and Health Science, was facing a challenge in providing superior training to healthcare professionals. As clinical medicine was becoming more focused on patient safety and quality of care, the need for medical simulation to bridge the educational gap between the classroom and the clinical environment was becoming increasingly apparent. Dr. Sandeep Ganni, the director of the GSL SMART Lab, envisioned a world-class surgical and medical training center where physicians and healthcare professionals could learn skills through simulation training. He was looking for different simulators for different specialties to provide both basic and advanced simulation training. For laparoscopic surgery, he was interested in a high fidelity simulator that could provide basic surgical and suturing skills training for international accreditation as well as specific hands-on training in complex laparoscopic procedures for practicing physicians in India.
