The company operates on a customer service-focused business model, offering free three-day shipping, free returns, social advertising campaigns, and dedicated human customer service lines. Chubbies products are sold on their website and at five retail locations in Houston, Atlanta, Tampa and Miramar Beach in Florida, and Charleston in South Carolina. The Challenge
Chubbies, an ecommerce company specializing in men’s shorts, faced significant challenges as its wholesale arm grew rapidly. The company had to increase its workforce to manage the complex orders and maintain EDI compliance, particularly when dealing with large retailers like Nordstrom. Chubbies initially tried to address its growth by replacing Quickbooks with NetSuite and selected Celigo’s Shopify-NetSuite integration app to automate the order-to-cash processes. However, the company still struggled with EDI compliance and faced difficulties integrating their EDI solution with NetSuite due to mismatched field structures. The EDI solution also did not support automatic updates for transactions in NetSuite, making it virtually impossible to manage from a manual perspective. This resulted in infractions that significantly ate into their profit margins.
The Solution
Chubbies decided to use Celigo in combination with Orderful, an API-based EDI solution, to automate their EDI processes. With Celigo’s Orderful-NetSuite Integration Template, Chubbies created a hub for EDI integrations, allowing all information surrounding EDI transactions to be automatically imported and exported between Orderful and NetSuite. This solution significantly reduced the manual work burdening the team, decreased instances of data entry errors, improved internal communication, and eliminated major obstacles in the fulfillment process. More importantly, it enabled Chubbies to maintain EDI compliance, thus eliminating the infraction fees that were impacting their profit margins.
