About The Customer
Cottrell Consulting is a data visualization consulting service founded by Joshua Cottrell-Schloemer, a product manager with a background in startups. The company primarily focuses on Data Studio work and aims to provide custom and fine-tuned products to its clients. The founder, while traveling around east and southeast Asia, was looking for ways to leverage his product skills without heavy coding. He started with visualization tools like Data Studio, Tableau, and PowerBI but realized that to achieve truly custom products, he needed a platform with more customization. This led him to Bubble, which he has been using as a learning tool and hopes to use for building performance dashboards for his clients.
The Challenge
Cottrell Consulting, founded by Joshua Cottrell-Schloemer, is a data visualization consulting service. The main challenge faced by the company was to find a way to leverage the product skills of its founder without heavy coding. The company needed a platform that could offer the same level of customization as a full-time developer. The goal was to create a portfolio and contact page for the consulting services, which would also serve as an onboarding portal for new clients. The company also wanted to test out new portfolio designs and describe their work in a language that non-technical clients could understand.
The Solution
The solution was found in Bubble, a no-code platform that offers a high level of customization. Bubble allowed Cottrell Consulting to build an app that serves as a portfolio and contact page for their data visualization consulting services. The app also provides live examples of their dashboards, making it easier for non-technical clients to understand their work. The app is also used to test out new portfolio designs. In the future, the app will also serve as an onboarding portal for new clients, allowing them to log in, see their project status, submit documents/specs, message the consultant, submit bug reports, and more. This solution not only made the process of building new things more efficient but also improved the way projects are specified.
