About The Customer
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Republic of Indonesia, is a government organization responsible for promoting the national image and fostering the tourism industry. Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world, comprising more than 17,000 islands on which live 240 million people from 340 racial minorities. As befits a country well known for its beautiful natural landscape and cultural heritage, over eight million tourists visited Indonesia in 2012. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Republic of Indonesia, promotes the country as a safe, fascinating tourist destination throughout the world under the slogan “Wonderful Indonesia”.
The Challenge
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Republic of Indonesia, has been running its origin servers in Indonesia and the United States. However, when overseas users, the main target of the website, tried to access the website, web page loading speeds were too slow. There were two urgent challenges that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Republic of Indonesia, wished to resolve and improve. First, page loading speeds. It required faster page loading speeds in order to allow users to search for the information they want. Second, the Ministry wanted more efficient operation and management of its IT infrastructure to respond to an increase in access from overseas users scattered all over the world.
The Solution
To resolve the two challenges of “faster page loading” and “ensuring stable connection”, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the Republic of Indonesia, chose CDNetworks’ Contents Delivery Service (CDN). A test was conducted in 24 cities around North America, Europe and South-East Asian countries using a performance measurement solution to see the difference in page load times before/after the adoption of CDNetworks’ CDN Service. The result showed that the page load time became 3.6 times faster with 100% availability of the web site. CDNetworks provides a CDN Service through its 200+ Points of Presence around the world to meet the business needs of clients quickly and easily without requiring them to purchase physical hardware when expanding the service to overseas and/or responding to a sudden increase in traffic.
