About The Customer
DHL is the leading global brand in the logistics industry, offering an unrivalled portfolio of services ranging from national and international parcel delivery, international express, road, air and ocean transport to industrial supply chain management. The company is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL and operates in the global freight logistics industry. DHL Global Forwarding’s Temperature Management Solutions group provides temperature controlled logistics for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, ensuring that certain pharmaceutical and biological goods stay within the required temperature range to maintain their efficacy.
The Challenge
DHL Global Forwarding’s Temperature Management Solutions group provides temperature controlled logistics for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. Temperature is critical in shipping because certain pharmaceutical and biological goods can lose their efficacy if they do not stay within the required temperature range. This can have devastating consequences for someone who is relying on that medicine. The group needed a robust analytics tool that could work seamlessly with DHL’s proprietary IT system ‘LifeTrack’ to provide visibility into millions of data points captured throughout the shipping process. The existing system alone had limitations on the number of tables and data sources that could be combined.
The Solution
DHL Global Forwarding implemented Domo, a robust analytics tool that works seamlessly with DHL’s proprietary IT system ‘LifeTrack’. Domo allows DHL to combine data however they want to. They pull all of their data into Domo, and they can manipulate it as they need to. Domo provides visualization that is really intuitive. It provides a snapshot of what DHL needs to know, not only from a high-level but from a detailed level as well. With Domo, DHL is able to pinpoint issues that they previously couldn’t see. For example, a certain product, on a certain lane, at a certain station is experiencing an issue repeatedly. In Domo, they can create a heat map and identify the specific issue.

Jaguar Land Rover Speeds Order-to-Cash Cycle
At Jaguar Land Rover, vehicles physically move around the facility for testing, configuration setting, rework and rectification, leading to a longer search time to get each vehicle to its next process facility. The main goal is to minimize the vehicles' dwell time between end of line and the delivery chain which was previously a manually intensive process. Jaguar Land Rover's goal was to build on the success of an earlier RFID project and improve the efficiency of delivering vehicles to meet dealer orders.

Retail Uses RFID to Enable Cold Chain Monitoring
Like most grocery retailers, Hy-Vee is faced with the challenge of providing the highest quality products to its shoppers. Shoppers want the longest possible shelf life from perishable products and expect a consistent product experience each time they shop. Controlling the quality of products sold leads to shopper loyalty, which is of paramount importance to the success of Hy-Vee. Before products arrive in stores, Hy-Vee's distribution centers (DCs) handle items including dairy products, fresh meats, seafood, deli items, produce and frozen goods, all of which have different temperature needs and sensitivities. During transit from suppliers to DCs, Hy-Vee has limited visibility and temperature management abilities due to large amount of supplier managed transportation. For instance, during a week-long transit, a supplier's carrier equipment may malfunction, causing an item to thaw and then refreeze once repairs are made. Hy-Vee sought help from TempTRIP, an RFID solution provider that focuses on shipping, storage, receiving, and temperature control. TempTRIP's EPC RFID tags use Impinj chips to monitor and report temperature readings throughout the shipping and receiving process. The tags can also be re-configured and re-used, a unique feature within the current market of temperature monitoring devices.
