The Challenge
Camp Grinsby, a campsite located in Årjäng, Sweden, had a vision to become an energy-neutral, sustainable campsite. The primary challenge was to monitor and manage the energy consumption effectively due to the geographical location and nature of the site. The campsite owner, Staf Coppens, needed to understand not only the amount of energy being consumed but also its financial implications, CO2 emissions, and potential areas for energy savings. The goal was to transition to renewable energy sources and prioritize energy efficiency initiatives. However, the challenge was to measure, verify, and monitor detailed consumption and all energy-saving measures.
The Solution
To address the challenge, Bureau 9000, a study and energy consulting company, partnered with Energis.Cloud, an energy management software. The software was used to provide data-driven advice on energy transition through operational improvements. The solution involved the installation of PV, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV charging stations. A significant part of the strategy was the choice of wireless communication technology for energy monitoring, which proved to be the most economical and qualitative solution given the site's nature and geographical location. The collaboration between Bureau 9000 and Energis.Cloud enabled the measurement of each campsite individually, identifying areas of abnormal consumption.
