About The Customer
The Euskaltel Group is one of Spain’s primary telecommunications companies for individuals, institutions, and companies. Its brands, Euskaltel in the Basque Country, R in Galicia, and Telecable in Asturias, have been operating on the market for over 25 years and are leaders in fiber optic and convergent telecommunications services in their respective regions. Recently the Group launched its expansion strategy through the Virgin telco brand to reach the entire Spanish market and offer high-speed broadband, mobile telecommunications with ample data allowances, and a solid TV offering to 20 million homes.
The Challenge
Euskaltel Group, a leading telecommunications company in Spain, was planning a nationwide expansion. The company needed a scalable way to use AI and machine learning to attract and retain customers, reduce the incidence of default, and identify cross-selling opportunities. Their business intelligence team had experimented with AI on a limited basis but still spent considerable time writing code. The challenge was to find a more efficient and effective way to use AI and machine learning in their workflow.
The Solution
Euskaltel chose to deploy DataRobot AI Cloud to automate and expedite customer insights. The platform is used daily by Euskaltel’s data scientists to help identify optimal ways to retain current customers, secure new ones, reduce the incidence of payment defaults, and identify cross-selling opportunities. Using DataRobot’s Optimizer, they weigh potential discounts to determine the optimal pricing for a customer and the next-best action to retain that customer. DataRobot’s Decision Intelligence Flows capability lets the team move beyond predictions to build rules based on complex business logic – to automate and accelerate decision-making.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
