About The Customer
The customer is a national grocery delivery service that operates in more than 5,000 cities across the country. As ecommerce continues to grow, the company is under pressure to deliver goods faster than its competitors. The company's hiring process was inefficient and costly, with applicants often sitting idle between stages or dropping off altogether. The company needed a solution to streamline its hiring process, reduce costs, and enable it to quickly fill positions as consumer behavior changes. The company is committed to expanding its operations and serving more consumers across the country.
The Challenge
The logistics industry is experiencing a surge in demand due to the rise of ecommerce. This has put pressure on companies to deliver goods faster than their competitors. A national grocery delivery service, serving over 5,000 cities, was struggling with its hiring process. The company was experiencing bottlenecks in the hiring funnel, with applicants often sitting idle between the data collection stage and the background check, or dropping off altogether. The increasing number of applicants each week made manual background checks time-consuming and costly. The company needed a solution to streamline its hiring process, reduce costs, and enable it to quickly fill positions as consumer behavior changes.
The Solution
The company implemented Fountain, a talent acquisition platform, to optimize its hiring process. The platform's drag-and-drop workflow editor allowed the company to rearrange their application stages without involving IT. The qualification stage was moved to appear only after the applicant pool had been refined to a qualified candidate list. The company also integrated Fountain's open API with partner Checkr to run background checks after applicants were approved. This led to a significant reduction in talent acquisition cost. The company also moved the data collection stage to the front of the pipeline to collect more applicant information upfront. Fountain's features of bulk edits and cloning stages enabled the company to manage their unique workflows and adjust them based on regional requirements as they grew. The company also transitioned to virtual interviews, with Fountain consolidating video interviews onto one platform and allowing for asynchronous video recordings.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.
