About The Customer
Founded in 2006 as a dedicated backup service provider, Front-safe in Denmark now manages more than 12,000 servers through 150 OEM branded partners. In 2009 Front-safe commercialized its cloud portal software, enabling managed service providers worldwide to offer enterprise-grade backup capabilities as a service. Front-safe offers backup and archiving solutions, delivered using enterprise-class IBM Spectrum Protect. Client data is stored on reliable IBM® System Storage™ DS5100 arrays and archived to IBM System Storage TS3500 tape libraries that use IBM LTO Ultrium 5 media.
The Challenge
Front-safe identified a gap in the market for a company that could bring the power of enterprise-class data protection to small and mid-sized businesses. Larger companies have access to enterprise-class solutions, yet the expertise and resource requirements of these platforms have traditionally put them beyond the reach of smaller organizations. Front-safe recognized that every company needs to back up its data, but it can be incredibly complicated and inefficient for a business to manage its own data protection solution.
The Solution
Front-safe developed its own cloud portal software, enabling the company to deliver IBM Spectrum Protect as a service. After using its cloud portal software successfully with this model in Denmark for three years, Front-safe decided to commercialize its software (as “Frontsafe Cloud Portal”) and make it available globally to other managed service providers. Frontsafe Cloud Portal allows MSPs to automate reporting and invoicing within a highly scalable environment, serving clients directly and setting up their own OEM branded partner networks. Trusted service providers can manage vast numbers of servers with relatively few resources, achieving economies of scale that will bring the solution within the economic reach of smaller companies.
