FS is a leading provider of value-added services to telecommunication operators and retailers in Brazil and Latin America, with over 28 million clients. The company offers white label and private label solutions involving digital security, personal cloud, insurance, technical support, education, and entertainment. In the B2C market, it operates under the brand Hero, which gathers digital security solutions to meet the demand of the retail sector and digital app stores. Headquartered in São Paulo with a presence in more than ten Brazilian States, the company also has commercial offices in Chile and Argentina. The Challenge
FS moved its data center off-premise to the cloud, so there was an opportunity to strategically build the security infrastructure up front to manage more than 300 machines on AWS. Each of the servers has its own SSH key and a local user for development. Multiple people need to connect to the servers all the time. Managing the security of these privileged accounts was a complex and complicated endeavor. Also, the company wanted to have a system in place to track all changes to ensure each was approved for deployment and documented for long term analysis and audit. Having proactive security measures in place to mitigate risks associated with privileged accounts was not only important to the IT team supporting a growing business, but it was also a priority for the CEO who understands the business benefits of protecting digital assets.
The Solution
FS uses the CyberArk Core Privileged Account Security Solution to manage access to its servers on AWS as well as other services and database connections. Depending upon the use case, some applications use SSH Keys and others use passwords. The CyberArk solution includes multiple built-in security layers to provide the strongest level of protection for privileged account information. This creates a detailed audit trail and enables security and audit teams to easily report on who accessed what, when, and why. FS is also able to more efficiently and effectively secure, manage, monitor, and control access to SSH keys in accordance with its security policies. The CyberArk solution can be used to prevent unauthorized access to privileged accounts in Unix/Linux environments and reduce the risk of a data breach.
