The Challenge
LDR Medical, a global innovator in Cervical and Spinal devices, faced the challenge of building a cohesive corporate culture across its offices in France, America, China, and Brazil. The company highly values its employees and their work-life balance, celebrating their successes and investing heavily in corporate events. They also frequently relocate employees and have many traveling to meet with teams in other offices. The challenge was to create a communication hub that could deliver on all these fronts, fostering a sense of unity and engagement among employees spread across different countries.
The Solution
Clarity, a company known for building custom portals, was brought in to design and build an employee portal for LDR Medical. The portal was almost entirely custom-built and included a global events calendar, a Facebook-style information feed, a stock ticker to monitor the company's IPO, multiple company directories, an Employee of the Month spotlight, floor plans for every office, company surveys, and galleries of company events. It also had department sections for HR, IT, Legal, Marketing, Accounting, and more. Additionally, Clarity integrated an Employee Recognition platform into the portal. Each quarter, every employee is given points to allocate or 'award' another employee for outstanding service. The points are reported in a feed along with a testimonial about the award, and a store has company swag, gifts, electronics, and pizza parties where the employees can redeem their points.
