About The Customer
The customer is a global manufacturer that operates in more than 70 countries, sourcing, manufacturing, and distributing consumer products. As a large corporate entity, the company has a significant global presence and a diverse workforce. The company is committed to maintaining high standards of security and operational efficiency, which is critical given its extensive operations and the sensitive nature of its communications. The company faced challenges with email security, particularly with the increasing sophistication of cyber threats such as phishing, impostor emails, and spoofing. These threats were not only disruptive but also posed a risk to the company's operations and reputation. The company's existing email security measures were proving inadequate, prompting the need for a more robust solution to protect its executives and employees from these advanced threats.
The Challenge
The global manufacturer faced a significant challenge with a growing number of malicious cyber attacks targeting its executives and employees worldwide. Operating in over 70 countries, the company realized that its existing spam tool was inadequate against the high volumes of spam and sophisticated phishing campaigns. Phishing, impostor emails, and spoofing of executives' emails were causing serious disruptions. The Help Desk team was overwhelmed, spending hours daily on remediation efforts, including antivirus scans and re-imaging workstations. The situation was frustrating for executives, disruptive for users, and alarming for the security team. Despite using an IronPort cloud-based solution for three years, its effectiveness had diminished, and attempts to optimize the system with the vendor were unsuccessful. The company evaluated a replacement solution from the same vendor, but the results were not satisfactory.
The Solution
The company decided to implement Proofpoint Email Protection and Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection (TAP) to address its email security challenges. Proofpoint Email Protection was chosen to defend against spam and malicious emails, while TAP was selected for its advanced capabilities in stopping zero-day attacks through malicious URLs and email attachments. The implementation involved placing Proofpoint between the existing tool and the company's Exchange servers to evaluate its effectiveness. The results were impressive, with Proofpoint catching significantly more spam and malicious emails than the previous solution. The TAP solution provided comprehensive zero-day capabilities, offering detailed insights into phishing attempts and reducing the volume of calls and antivirus scans required by the Help Desk team. The management interface of Proofpoint was found to be easier to use, allowing for quicker reporting and action on exceptions. The company experienced a significant improvement in email security, with reduced disruption and productivity losses.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.

And, with a long standing history supporting customers in the food processing, service, and retail settings, Victor knew that strict regulations were costing organizations thousands of dollars in excess overhead trying to manage their rodent-control solutions. Trap inspections in these environments are often difficult and time consuming, requiring personnel to manually check a trap’s status multiple times per day, amounting to over six hours of manual labor. Victor is looking for an innovative way to increase operational efficiencies with the use of technology.
