The Challenge
The client, a leading US PC manufacturer, had over 80,000 web pages spread across 15 domains and multiple languages. This vast digital presence led to data integrity challenges in the implementation of Adobe SiteCatalyst. There was a lack of coordination between the site and analytics teams, resulting in inconsistency and errors in tagging. Business partners frequently found questionable data, often without any explanation, leading to a distrust of the numbers shown by the analytics team.
The Solution
Blueocean Market Intelligence approached the problem by first defining and documenting the intended tagging logic for all variables. This was based on variable maps, site structure, and discussions with business partners. They then configured an automated solution to collect all data captured for every variable on every page. A web form tracker was created to compare the collected data to the business rules and variable map, and identify patterns in implementation issues across page types. They provided actionable recommendations to correct any tagging issues identified. The solution validated approximately 80,000 pages, identifying approximately 1,900 instances of 49 unique errors. Old and/or decommissioned tags were removed from the website, and all tag issues were fixed.
