The Challenge
Kiva, a nonprofit organization, faced challenges in scaling its operations while maintaining security and compliance. The organization required a secure and efficient identity management system to support its expanding operations and ensure seamless access for its employees and partners. Additionally, Kiva needed to address the growing problem of credential stuffing attacks and reduce the maintenance burden of its custom-built identity system.
The Solution
To address its challenges, Kiva partnered with Okta to implement a comprehensive identity management solution. In 2015, Kiva deployed Okta's Workforce Identity Cloud to provide secure access to applications for its employees and partners. In 2021, Kiva expanded its partnership with Okta by adopting the Customer Identity Cloud (formerly Auth0) to enhance its customer identity and access management capabilities. This solution allowed Kiva to streamline its identity management processes, reduce login friction, and improve security. Okta's integration tools enabled Kiva to implement single sign-on (SSO) across its platform, facilitating corporate philanthropy and engagement. The Customer Identity Cloud also provided built-in protection against credential stuffing attacks, reducing the need for custom solutions and freeing up engineering resources.
