About The Customer
Kodiak Northwest is a leading snow removal equipment firm with over 30 years of experience in the industry. The company manufactures a variety of products including snow blowers, plows, sweepers, and blades. These units range from truck-chassis models to loader-mount self-contained snow blowers. Each product is custom-made, designed to the buyer’s unique specifications. The company has customers in almost every state in the United States, including Hawaii, and in countries like Australia, Chile, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Russia, and Sweden. The company has grown eight-fold in just five years.
The Challenge
Kodiak Northwest, a leading snow removal equipment firm, experienced rapid growth, expanding eight-fold in just five years. This growth led to increased volumes and more complex business processes. The company had been relying on Sage DacEasy, an accounting package designed for small businesses. However, as the company grew, so did its accounting needs. Kodiak Northwest realized that it had outgrown its Sage DacEasy package and needed to upgrade to a more robust system, Sage 100 ERP. The company was concerned about the integrity of data during the transition from the flat Sage DacEasy database to the modular Sage 100 ERP version.
The Solution
Kodiak Northwest decided to upgrade to Sage 100 ERP to handle its growing accounting needs. The company contacted a Sage authorized reseller who was familiar with manufacturing enterprises and an expert in system conversions. In just one day, all of Kodiak’s data was safely exported from Sage DacEasy to Microsoft Excel files, and then, using Visual Integrator, to Sage 100 ERP. The transition was described as “a piece of cake.” Sage 100 ERP now handles all core accounting functions for Kodiak Northwest, including general ledger, payables, reporting, banking, trial balance, and cash disbursement duties. It also tracks parts and supplies and calculates payroll.
Operational Impact
  • The transition to Sage 100 ERP was smooth and accomplished in just one day.
  • The new system streamlined Kodiak Northwest's accounting systems, making them more efficient.
  • Sage 100 ERP performs invoicing and cuts checks, improving the company's financial processes.
  • The software also tracks parts and supplies and calculates payroll, enhancing the company's operational efficiency.
Quantitative Benefit
  • The company grew eight-fold in just five years.
  • The software takes care of general ledger, payables, reporting, banking, trial balance, and cash disbursement duties.
