About The Customer
KPN is the leading telecommunications and IT service provider in the Netherlands, offering wireline and wireless telephony, internet and TV to over 45 million customers. KPN IT’s solutions offers global IT services and is the Benelux market leader in the area of infrastructure and network related IT solutions. KPN markets its large portfolio of solutions via several brands such as KPN (fixed and mobile telephony for families), Hi (mobile telephony for young people), Telfort (no-frills mobile telephony and Internet), XS4ALL (the innovating Internet provider), as well as additional brands in Germany and Belgium.
The Challenge
KPN, the leading telecommunications and IT service provider in the Netherlands, wanted to scale up its infrastructure to provide better, more predictable service to its business customers. With over 100 high-end business customers relying on its cloud services, KPN wanted to improve resiliency and scalability, as well as the ability to easily add new business customers and isolate between customer environments. Another key objective was lowering operational costs, which KPN wanted to achieve by consolidating multiple dedicated ADC devices into a virtualized ADC infrastructure.
The Solution
KPN implemented Radware’s ADC-VX virtualization solution. Radware’s robust multi-tenancy capabilities were a key factor in KPN’s decision. With the enhanced scalability of the virtualized ADC solution, KPN could easily add and support new business customers. The system’s high scalability ensures that the needs of both existing and new customers can be met. On the financial side, KPN has reduced operational costs by consolidating existing ADC hardware devices into a single ADC device and saving costs of real estate, power, and hardware maintenance.

During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
