About The Customer
Kullenbergs Maskiner AB is one of Sweden’s largest trading companies within the agricultural business with a market share of close to 35%. The company has been in operation for over 135 years. It has 120 employees and grosses around €37 - €43 million from its six facilities in the south Swedish province of Skåne. Each facility consists of a center for spare part sales and a large sales and service area. The company's warehouse contains a huge volume of almost 100,000 different articles, which is more than twice the size of General Motors’ warehouse.
The Challenge
Kullenbergs Maskiner AB, one of Sweden’s largest distributors within the agricultural business, was struggling with a manual information reporting process. The company was unable to efficiently analyze the large volume of data from its warehouse, which contained almost 100,000 different articles. This was a significant challenge as the organization was not capable of analyzing all the reports manually. The company was also reliant on outside vendors for system maintenance and modifications, which was not ideal. The company needed a solution that could automate the data analysis process, increase operational efficiency, and reduce reliance on outside vendors.
The Solution
Kullenbergs deployed QlikView to 10 employees plus various customers. With QlikView across 5 functional areas, Kullenbergs now analyzes customer segmentation, profitability, customer needs, parts availability, and service performance - all focused on driving a more efficient and effective operation. With the QlikView Server, Kullenbergs easily handles the large data volume of more than 100,000 warehouse articles. The company was so impressed by its new business intelligence system that it adopted QlikView as its new information system for the enterprise. The company also plans to allow customers to see product availability and make purchases online.
Operational Impact
  • Improved customer relationships with flexible analyses of information based on individual customer needs.
  • Slashed the time required to analyze large volumes of information.
  • Increased sales opportunities with innovative cross-selling sales functionality.
  • Enhanced marketing success as a result of better market and customer data now available at a moment’s notice.
Quantitative Benefit
  • A new analysis that previously took five to ten hours to produce never requires more than thirty minutes today.
