About The Customer
Brad Madix is a seasoned FOH engineer who started his career in the early 80’s. He has worked with a diverse range of artists including Def Leppard, Rush, Shania Twain, Shakira, and Jack White. He joined Mike Shinoda for his solo project tour, Fort Minor, and was invited to join Linkin Park’s current tour as FOH engineer. Madix is a heavy user of Avid’s Live Sound Systems and for the One More Light World Tour, he transitioned to the VENUE | S6L System. He is also a co-founder of Diablo Digital and has been testing the Dolby Atmos integration with Pro Tools.
The Challenge
The One More Light World Tour was a global event that brought the unique music style of Linkin Park to millions of fans. The challenge was to capture the band’s performance in a way that did justice to their hybrid music style, which incorporates elements of pop, rock, indie rock, hip hop, and electronic. The Front of House (FOH) engineer, Brad Madix, needed a live sound system that could handle the diverse musical styles in one show. The system had to be versatile enough to allow different elements to bubble up to the surface from song to song, and robust enough to handle the heavy sounds of some of the band's older music. The system also needed to integrate easily with Pro Tools and be capable of recording the shows to create high-quality content for DVDs or social media.
The Solution
Brad Madix, a seasoned FOH engineer who has worked with diverse artists like Def Leppard, Rush, Shania Twain, Shakira, and Jack White, relied on the Avid VENUE | S6L live sound system to mix FOH for the Linkin Park tour. As a long-time user of Avid’s Live Sound Systems, Madix transitioned to the VENUE | S6L System for this tour. The system allowed him to have all the parameters he was working on the desk at one time. He could map everything to the surface at the same time, especially with plugins. The custom fader layout function helped him to quickly access different layouts for drums, keyboard, and guitar. The S6L was a step up in audio quality and integrated easily with Pro Tools, requiring significantly fewer interfaces and time to have a good workflow. The system also allowed for the recording of the shows to create high-quality content for DVDs or social media.

Advanced Elastomer Systems Upgrades Production
In order to maintain its share of the international market for thermoplastic elastomers AES recently expanded its Florida plant by adding a new production line. While the existing lines were operating satisfactorily using a PROVOX distributed control system with traditional analog I/O, AES wanted advanced technology on the new line for greater economy, efficiency, and reliability. AES officials were anxious to get this line into production to meet incoming orders, but two hurricanes slowed construction.

Field Device Asset Management For Chemical Company in China
Chinese chemical subsidiary of multinational corporation serves customers throughout the world. Sales offices and research and technology centers are strategically located to provide rapid response to customer requests. Just two workers were assigned to maintain thousands of intelligent instruments in three production units, so they could do little more than react to device issues as they appeared. This costly maintenance method inevitably led to unexpected downtime when a critical instrument failed. Plant management recognized the need to change from reactive to predictive maintenance for all assets, including instruments and control valves, but help was needed in implementing such a technology-based initiative.
