The team is composed of new blood alongside Manor Racing’s loyal professionals, all drawn to a love of Formula 1’s original essence. The team values meticulous attention to detail and the ability to quickly solve problems. Manor Racing has partnered with Mercedes-Benz for race power and Williams for transmission. New owners have put Manor Racing back on track – literally and figuratively – with solid planning and sound investment. The team is in good shape, ready to compete, and ready to race.
The Challenge
Manor Racing, a small but ambitious Formula 1 team, was seeking a technological edge to enhance their performance during the 2016 FIA Formula 1 World Championship challenge. The team needed a solution that could handle the complexity of Formula 1 racing, where every thousandth of a second counts. They required a platform that could work in tandem with their existing race strategy simulation software, enabling their engineers to evaluate thousands of simulations and strategies. The goal was to be at the cutting edge of innovative decision-making during a Grand Prix weekend, all from a laptop web browser.
The Solution
Manor Racing partnered with Rescale, a leading cloud platform provider of simulation software and high performance computing (HPC) solutions. Rescale's cloud HPC platform was chosen to enable trackside simulation on a whole new scale for the team. The platform was designed to work in tandem with Manor Racing’s existing race strategy simulation software, enabling its engineers to evaluate thousands of simulations and strategies. The entire process was executed from a laptop web browser, powered by Rescale’s massively scalable cloud infrastructure and computer environment. Rescale's team quickly understood the complexity of Formula 1 racing and provided a solution that could handle the minute details that make a significant difference in the sport.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).
