The Challenge
Mason IT needed to build a scalable and sustainable cloud platform for hosting infrastructure-as-a-service. The company was looking for a solution that could reduce power, cooling, and space requirements while avoiding the costs associated with traditional SAN equipment. Additionally, they required a system that could scale easily as client demands grew, without large upfront capital expenditures.
The Solution
Mason IT chose the Nutanix Complete Cluster architecture to build their cloud platform. This solution offers a converged compute and storage system that is scalable and cost-effective. The Nutanix system replaces traditional storage and server racks with a compact footprint, reducing power and cooling requirements by 40%. It is preloaded with a VMware hypervisor, supporting VM high availability and live migration, making it ready for deployment as a shared, virtualized service. The system's scale-out architecture allows Mason IT to expand infrastructure by adding Complete Blocks, which scale performance and capacity linearly. Each Complete Block includes 4 nodes, 8 Intel Xeon processors, 4 Fusion-io PCIe SSD cards, 4 SATA SSDs, and 20 SATA HDDs, delivering high and predictable performance for cloud customers.
