About The Customer
Meissner Manufacturing is a leading manufacturer of swimming pool and spa filter elements based in Chatsworth, CA. They produce popular and industry-standard Unicel filtration products. Terry Nielson, the Credit & Collections Manager at Meissner, has been with the company for over 20 years, managing the entire accounts receivable portfolio. This role requires him to have a comprehensive understanding of the entire credit to cash process. The company had outgrown its outdated ERP system and was in need of a more advanced and configurable business intelligence software to manage their unique payment terms and processes.
The Challenge
Meissner Manufacturing, a leading swimming pool and spa filter element manufacturer, faced a significant challenge in managing their accounts receivable (AR) portfolio. After outgrowing an outdated ERP system, they adopted HarrisData Software to manage and integrate their business functions. However, due to their industry's unique payment terms, they required a configurable business intelligence software to complement HarrisData. The software needed to enhance their ability to access data and quickly create reports tailored to their unique processes. The lack of quick access to data was slowing down Meissner’s ability to identify customers with the highest debt, overdue invoices, and other crucial information for running a successful business.
The Solution
In search of a software solution to pair with HarrisData, Meissner's VP of Administration and Credit & Collections Manager attended a Sequel presentation at the HarrisData User Conference. They were convinced that Sequel was the right fit for their needs, as it would allow their team to access key business data and create reports. The software was also intuitive enough for users without a technical background. They quickly incorporated Sequel into their AR processes, which allowed them to run account queries and pull data into personalized views, saving valuable time. The positive results were seen not just in their AR process and reporting, but across the company. Sequel was used to create over a hundred different views, aiding in the processing of reporting information and many other tasks.

Smooth Transition to Energy Savings
The building was equipped with four end-of-life Trane water cooled chillers, located in the basement. Johnson Controls installed four York water cooled centrifugal chillers with unit mounted variable speed drives and a total installed cooling capacity of 6,8 MW. Each chiller has a capacity of 1,6 MW (variable to 1.9MW depending upon condenser water temperatures). Johnson Controls needed to design the equipment in such way that it would fit the dimensional constraints of the existing plant area and plant access route but also the specific performance requirements of the client. Morgan Stanley required the chiller plant to match the building load profile, turn down to match the low load requirement when needed and provide an improvement in the Energy Efficiency Ratio across the entire operating range. Other requirements were a reduction in the chiller noise level to improve the working environment in the plant room and a wide operating envelope coupled with intelligent controls to allow possible variation in both flow rate and temperature. The latter was needed to leverage increased capacity from a reduced number of machines during the different installation phases and allow future enhancement to a variable primary flow system.
