About The Customer
Myntex is a leading provider of trusted encryption solutions for mobile devices, including BlackBerry and Android. The company is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Myntex takes great care to ensure its customers’ privacy and security across its suite of encrypted mobile communication devices. The company was in need of a reliable DDoS security provider that could provide mitigation support 24/7 and 365 days a year, after experiencing severe service interruptions due to a series of massive multi-vector DDoS attacks.
The Challenge
Myntex, a leading provider of trusted encryption solutions for mobile devices, was hit with a series of massive multi-vector DDoS attacks, resulting in severe service interruptions that negatively impacted its customers and the availability of their mobile devices. The company utilized standard security methods and protocols in conjunction with a DDoS solution from a provider that offered poor customer service and couldn’t prevent downtime. Attack campaigns could last a month and involved Advanced Persistent Denial of Service (APDoS) attacks, which included multi-vector burst DDoS attacks at massive sizes ranging from 40Gbps to 130Gbps. These attacks resulted in service disruptions for Myntex’s customers, causing communication downtime with their mobile devices.
The Solution
Myntex selected Radware’s Cloud Security Services to help it take back control of the situation. Operated by Radware’s Emergency Response Team, Radware’s Cloud Security Services provides enterprise-grade cloud protection services from multi-vector threats to prevent outages and minimize service-level degradation. Radware’s Cloud Security Service could accurately detect and mitigate attacks on Myntex within minutes, without inducing any service delays and without blocking any legitimate user traffic. In addition, real-time reporting and monitoring kept Myntex apprised of the situation. In the future, the company will explore the feasibility of a hybrid deployment by implementing Radware’s DefensePro DDoS mitigation device on-premise within Myntex’s data center.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
