The Challenge
Mountain Eagle Trucking faced several challenges in managing their fleet operations across the Canada-United States border. The company needed to ensure timely deliveries and pickups to maintain high customer satisfaction. Additionally, they had to manage the safety and compliance of their fleet, including temperature monitoring for food and beverage distribution to prevent rejected loads. The cross-border operations also required compliance with different regulations and laws in Canada and the U.S., making it essential to have accurate tracking and reporting systems in place.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Mountain Eagle Trucking deployed Samsara's Vehicle Gateways (VGs), Asset Gateways (AGs), Environmental Monitors (EMs), and Dash Cameras (CMs) across their entire fleet. The implementation of these solutions provided real-time insights into the fleet's location, diagnostics, and temperature, allowing for proactive management. The temperature monitoring system enabled Cheema to receive alerts for any temperature fluctuations, helping to prevent rejected loads and save costs. Additionally, Samsara's integrated platform facilitated seamless HOS compliance and IFTA reporting, ensuring that the fleet remained compliant with cross-border regulations. The Dash Cameras also contributed to driver safety by providing video footage for coaching and minimizing risks.

For Fox and his team, these requirements meant turning to the cloud instead of an on-premises datacenter. “My first thought was to go directly to the cloud because we needed to provide access not only to our salespeople, but to resellers who didn’t have access to our internal network,” says Fox. “The cloud just seemed like a logical choice.”
