About The Customer
Good Excavating & Hauling, LLC. is a Northern Indiana-based company founded in 1991 by John and Denise Good. Initially established as an excavating operation, the company became an LLC in 2001 and expanded its services over the years. In 2007, Brenna Goshert, the daughter of the founders, joined as the Director of Administration, leading to the addition of over-the-road trucking services. Starting with a single truck, the company has grown significantly, now operating eight trucks, 12 trailers, and collaborating with contracted companies. They offer for-hire trucking services across 48 states, hauling dry freight, refrigerated goods, and bagged animal feed, along with tanker services. The company has expanded its workforce from three to six full-time office workers, dedicating most of their time to 12 main-haul customers.
The Challenge
Good Excavating & Hauling, LLC. faced challenges as they began to outgrow their paper-based system. The company struggled with record-keeping and tracking numbers, which was becoming increasingly difficult as they expanded their operations. Brenna Goshert, the Director of Administration, was spending significant hours on manual labor to ensure accurate numbers. The company realized the need for a more efficient system to manage their growing fleet and operations. Brenna sought recommendations from peers and learned about Prophesy Dispatch from Tom Farms, LLC., which had experienced success with the system.
The Solution
To address their challenges, Good Excavating & Hauling, LLC. adopted Prophesy OnDemand software. Brenna and her father, John, participated in a live demonstration of the software and quickly decided it was the right solution for their growing company. After subscribing to Prophesy OnDemand, Brenna underwent two training sessions with Prophesy’s Training and Implementation Consultants to tailor the system to the company's needs. The first session involved transferring all necessary information to QuickBooks. Brenna also participated in complimentary group training sessions to learn how to effectively set up drivers and carriers in Prophesy OnDemand. Currently, the company uses the Prophesy OnDemand Carrier version with QuickBooks integration and the IFTA Fuel Tax reporting module.

For Fox and his team, these requirements meant turning to the cloud instead of an on-premises datacenter. “My first thought was to go directly to the cloud because we needed to provide access not only to our salespeople, but to resellers who didn’t have access to our internal network,” says Fox. “The cloud just seemed like a logical choice.”
