The Challenge
The sports industry has undergone significant transformation over the last 8-10 years, largely due to the rise of technology and social media. However, the job market within this industry has not kept pace with these changes. There is a lack of transparency and information about job opportunities, making it difficult for job seekers to evaluate potential roles and employers. This challenge was recognized by Matt Morrison, Founder & CEO of Openly, who sought to create a platform that would break down these barriers and provide greater transparency to job seekers in the sports industry.
The Solution
Openly, built using Bubble, a no-code web app builder, is a Glassdoor-like app specifically designed for the sports industry. It allows users to browse and leave job reviews, interview reviews, and pay reviews for thousands of employers in sports, including professional teams, colleges, and hundreds of '3rd parties' in sports. Users can also interact and network on the platform's Forum and update their job preferences in their Profile. The backend of Bubble was robust enough to handle the amount of data coming in from users, and its strong community element provided support during the development process. The app was launched after a 6-week development period.
