About The Customer
The Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) is a non-profit association that promotes 'sourcing with respect'. The organization supports and verifies companies' commitments to innovation and sourcing practices that contribute to a world where people and biodiversity thrive. UEBT sets good practices for how companies and their suppliers source natural ingredients, providing the tools for ethical sourcing. The organization also raises awareness about the challenges and opportunities in ethical sourcing through its Biodiversity Barometer and its annual Beauty of Sourcing with Respect conference. Additionally, UEBT provides advisory, training, and capacity development services related to ethical sourcing, particularly in Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), a key aspect of the UEBT standard.
The Challenge
The Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) is a non-profit association that promotes ethical sourcing, ensuring that companies and their suppliers source natural ingredients in a manner that respects biodiversity and human rights. UEBT provides advisory, training, and capacity development services related to ethical sourcing, particularly in Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS), a key aspect of the UEBT standard. However, managing and verifying compliance with ABS rules and best practices across multiple stakeholders, including UEBT members, their suppliers, and certification bodies, posed a significant challenge. The organization needed a robust system to streamline and optimize its audit management process, facilitate supplier onboarding and risk assessment, manage certificate information, and generate comprehensive reports.
The Solution
To address these challenges, UEBT adopted the ChainPoint software, a cutting-edge IoT solution designed to support and optimize audit management systems. ChainPoint connects UEBT, certification bodies, UEBT members, and their suppliers on a single platform, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration. The software offers a range of functions, including supplier onboarding, supplier risk assessment, certificate information management, audit management for all stakeholders, and reporting. By leveraging ChainPoint, UEBT can effectively guide and verify compliance with ABS rules and best practices, helping companies adhere to regulations. The software also supports UEBT's mission to raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities in ethical sourcing, contributing to a world where people and biodiversity thrive.

Boiler Control System for Plastic Manufacturing Applications
Factory automation applications must be equipped to handle and monitor the myriads of information from attached devices. For plastic manufacturing applications, the boiler control system plays a critical role by gathering and regulating information to ensure production is accurate and smooth. In this particular case, the customer combines eight subsystems that include power meters, water meters, alarm output, displays, and I/O status to be controlled by several intelligent controllers with Modbus RTU interface. The Modbus TCP protocol is used for this application due to the distance. System Requirements: • Modbus serial to Modbus TCP translation • Multiple slaves/masters support • Automatic Modbus TCP response time detection

Ascend Performance Materials Case Study
Ascend operations must access multiple software systems to manage day-to-day operations in an effective and secure manner. These systems generate large sets of data which contain critical information pertaining to management systems, planning and cost information in business systems and energy consumption. As a result, Ascend management was challenged with creating relevant reports reflecting performance measures in overall context of their operational process. The company’s previous process entailed collecting and analyzing data manually which was not effective, since the information collected was generated after the fact, and was too complex for collaborative use across the organization.
