About The Customer
P2 Energy Solutions is a company that provides financial and accounting software to 1,700 oil and gas companies. The company's software supports billions of transactions across hundreds of thousands of wells. P2 Energy Solutions is based in Denver, Colorado, USA. The company's technology stack includes over 100 different software solutions. The company's software is used by oil and gas companies to manage their financial and accounting processes, including lease approvals, production volumes, and geological offerings. The company's software also has to comply with complex governance dictated by state and federal law.
The Challenge
P2 Energy Solutions, a provider of financial and accounting software to 1,700 oil and gas companies, was facing a number of challenges. Their technology stack included over 100 different software solutions and they required a workflow solution to complement these existing systems. The lease approval process was not connected to other processes and integration for production volumes often went to external software. Geological offerings were not part of traditional accounting packages and energy companies and their software had to comply with complex governance dictated by state and federal law. These challenges were hindering the company's ability to effectively manage and streamline their operations.
The Solution
To address these challenges, P2 Energy Solutions partnered with ProcessMaker to build P2 Workflow, an OEM solution powered by ProcessMaker. They embedded ProcessMaker into their previous solution suite to create P2 Workflow. They custom built notifications to ensure necessary data is updated and developed an effective IT risk management solution for customer system upgrades. They also made prepackaged workflows available for more than 20 common oil and gas processes and connected workflows across applications to solve customer requirements. P2 staff were trained in one week to quickly design and deploy their own workflows. All processes were unified in a central location to execute from one comprehensive platform.

Remote Wellhead Monitoring
Each wellhead was equipped with various sensors and meters that needed to be monitored and controlled from a central HMI, often miles away from the assets in the field. Redundant solar and wind generators were installed at each wellhead to support the electrical needs of the pumpstations, temperature meters, cameras, and cellular modules. In addition to asset management and remote control capabilities, data logging for remote surveillance and alarm notifications was a key demand from the customer. Terra Ferma’s solution needed to be power efficient, reliable, and capable of supporting high-bandwidth data-feeds. They needed a multi-link cellular connection to a central server that sustained reliable and redundant monitoring and control of flow meters, temperature sensors, power supply, and event-logging; including video and image files. This open-standard network needed to interface with the existing SCADA and proprietary network management software.

Refinery Saves Over $700,000 with Smart Wireless
One of the largest petroleum refineries in the world is equipped to refine various types of crude oil and manufacture various grades of fuel from motor gasoline to Aviation Turbine Fuel. Due to wear and tear, eight hydrogen valves in each refinery were leaking, and each cost $1800 per ton of hydrogen vented. The plant also had leakage on nearly 30 flare control hydrocarbon valves. The refinery wanted a continuous, online monitoring system that could catch leaks early, minimize hydrogen and hydrocarbon production losses, and improve safety for maintenance.
