About The Customer
Recoverlution is a recovery platform launched in July, created by addicts for addicts. It is dedicated to content, community, and wellness, aiming to highlight the positive and transformative power of recovery. The platform aims to help the world understand what recovery is, get more people into recovery sooner, and help them stay there longer. With a team of over 30 people across the UK, Denmark, US, and India, Recoverlution has created unique and premium content and aggregated a suite of best-in-class wellness services and tools. It provides a safe and secure space for recovering addicts to engage with peers, professionals, and support groups.
The Challenge
The challenge faced by Recoverlution was the disruption of in-person meetings for addiction recovery due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This posed a significant problem as the recovery process is heavily reliant on connection and support from others. The founders, Daniel Fincham, Jacob Midtgaard-Olesen, and Edward Williams, having experienced the fragmented recovery services themselves, were motivated to revolutionize the way the recovery community could support each other in a digital environment. They identified a gap in the market for a dedicated online space where people in recovery could connect, share experiences, and support each other.
The Solution
Recoverlution decided to leverage ready-made APIs to allow their engineers to focus on creating a unique user experience. They identified the need for a chat functionality to facilitate connection and chose Stream Chat as the best fit for their platform. Stream Chat was integrated throughout the Recoverlution platform, enabling users to connect on a 1:1 level or in group chats to further their recovery. The team built a prototype with Stream Chat before fully integrating it with the platform, synchronizing it with the platform's user profiles. This allowed users to chat with others, both anonymous users and those with more complete profiles. The team prioritized user safety, ensuring that users were protected in the chat.
