About The Customer
SA Premix is a developer and manufacturer of nutritional additives for the agricultural and veterinary market. It is part of the AECI group. The company has developed an online e-commerce portal for order entry and uses SYSPRO ERP software for managing its business processes. Due to the nature of its business, many of the orders that SA Premix receives are unique and involve complex formulations. The company aims to deliver high-quality customer service and sees the integration of its e-commerce portal with its ERP system as a key part of achieving this goal.
The Challenge
SA Premix, a developer and manufacturer of nutritional additives for the agricultural and veterinary market, faced a significant challenge in integrating its e-commerce portal with its SYSPRO ERP software. The company had developed an online portal where orders could be entered, but needed a way to seamlessly integrate this system with its ERP software to generate sales orders and open production jobs in Work In Progress (WIP). The nature of SA Premix's business meant that many of the orders received were unique and involved complex formulations. These formulation requirements could be captured on the e-commerce portal, but then needed to be converted into jobs in SYSPRO WIP. Manual addition of these jobs was not feasible due to the volume and complexity of the orders.
The Solution
SA Premix chose to use Flowgear, an agile integration platform-as-a-service (iPaaS), to integrate orders from its e-commerce portal with its ERP system. This decision was made after a SYSPRO consultant suggested evaluating the Flowgear integration platform. The company began trialing Flowgear in January 2016 and went live with the integration three months later in April. During the trial period, over 100 workflows were built to test different integration requirements and scenarios. The integration workflows created by Flowgear allowed SA Premix to automate the creation of production jobs, eliminating the need for manual input and reducing the potential for errors. SA Premix plans to further utilize Flowgear to capture data from programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in the factory for monitoring and controlling machinery.
