About The Customer
SdV Plurimedia (SdV) is an industry-leading hosting and Web services provider in France. SdV prides itself on delivering state-of-the-art data center and hosting services to more than 200 customers—mainly large media companies such as Le Figaro and Les Échos (newspapers) and ARTE (television network). Since a majority of its customers offer daily, public-facing media services, SdV is held to strict contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs) that make it imperative to provide the highest level of data center infrastructure and customer service protection.
The Challenge
SdV Plurimedia, a leading hosting and Web services provider in France, is held to strict contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs) that require it to provide the highest level of data center infrastructure and customer service protection. A majority of SdV’s customers offer public-facing media services that require high performance and 100% uptime. SdV’s customer Web sites are frequently attack targets due to the public and sometimes controversial nature of their content. Therefore, it is common for SdV to see attacks on a daily basis. These attacks not only impact the target customer, but also other customers who share the same data center resources. It’s these types of attacks that would shut down SdV if they didn’t have a DDoS mitigation system in place.
The Solution
To protect itself from these types of events, SdV has deployed Peakflow SP and Peakflow SP TMS (model 3110) as its solution for data center attack detection and surgical mitigation. SdV created a new VLAN and inserted the new appliances outside the core network, causing no service interruption. This out-of-band deployment of Arbor Peakflow products is so important to SdV that the company promotes it as a means of differentiation in a very competitive market. In addition to DDoS attack mitigation, SdV discovered other benefits, which include the pervasive, cost-effective network visibility and robust peering analysis that Peakflow SP offers via a number of real-time and historical reports.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
