About The Customer
Shufersal is Israel's largest supermarket chain, with over 350 branches spread across urban, suburban, and rural areas of the country. The company operates a fleet of 180 vehicles, distributing goods from four central distribution hubs to its numerous branches. Shufersal's primary goal was to replace its old, mostly manual distribution planning system with a more efficient, digital process. The company sought to achieve greater operational efficiency and meet the growing demand for consumer goods in the country.
The Challenge
Shufersal, the largest supermarket chain in Israel, was grappling with an outdated, largely manual distribution planning system. The company was seeking to replace this system with a more efficient, digital process. The primary goal was to achieve greater operational efficiency. The old system was not only time-consuming but also prone to errors, leading to inefficiencies in the distribution of goods from their central warehouses to their over 350 branches across the country. The challenge was to find a solution that could seamlessly integrate with their existing inventory management system, automate dispatching, dynamic vehicle routing, and driver shifts, and provide a comprehensive view of their entire operation.
The Solution
Shufersal partnered with Via Logistics to implement an app-based platform to streamline their distribution process. The technology provided by Via Logistics automated the dispatching, dynamic vehicle routing, and driver shifts, all of which were monitored in a digital control center. This gave Shufersal a comprehensive view of their entire operation, enabling them to manage their fleet of 180 vehicles more efficiently. The platform also facilitated seamless integration with Shufersal’s inventory management system, allowing them to receive product orders and track delivery in one platform. The automation of their distribution chain unlocked a new level of efficiency, with a 10% increase in route optimization within the first month of the pilot program.

Improving Vending Machine Profitability with the Internet of Things (IoT)
The vending industry is undergoing a sea change, taking advantage of new technologies to go beyond just delivering snacks to creating a new retail location. Intelligent vending machines can be found in many public locations as well as company facilities, selling different types of goods and services, including even computer accessories, gold bars, tickets, and office supplies. With increasing sophistication, they may also provide time- and location-based data pertaining to sales, inventory, and customer preferences. But at the end of the day, vending machine operators know greater profitability is driven by higher sales and lower operating costs.

Airport SCADA Systems Improve Service Levels
Modern airports are one of the busiest environments on Earth and rely on process automation equipment to ensure service operators achieve their KPIs. Increasingly airport SCADA systems are being used to control all aspects of the operation and associated facilities. This is because unplanned system downtime can cost dearly, both in terms of reduced revenues and the associated loss of customer satisfaction due to inevitable travel inconvenience and disruption.
