About The Customer
Skyworks is a high-performance semiconductor manufacturer that operates in 17 countries. The company has 6,000 customers and 11,000 employees, and it generated $5.5 billion in revenue in 2022. Skyworks provides the technology to enable connectivity for critical industries, including telecoms, aerospace, and automotive. As demand for wireless connectivity continues to grow, Skyworks is always operating into the future to ensure it is ready to meet the needs of its customers and the world they connect as they constantly evolve. To enable this, it is increasing its investments in new and emerging technologies such as 5G and driving excellence in its manufacturing and engineering processes to enable faster speed to market through automation.
The Challenge
Skyworks, a high-performance semiconductor manufacturer, operates in a complex, multicloud and hybrid technology environment. The company has a footprint in every major cloud services platform, as well as its own on-premises data centers. This complexity made it difficult for Skyworks to obtain an end-to-end view across its applications. As the demand for wireless connectivity continues to grow, Skyworks needed to ensure it was ready to meet the needs of its customers and the world they connect as they constantly evolve. To do this, the company needed to increase its investments in new and emerging technologies such as 5G and improve its manufacturing and engineering processes through automation. However, to maximize the impact of its investments in automation, Skyworks needed a modern observability solution that could reveal how its applications integrate with one another and provide precise answers about how they can be optimized and kept secure.
The Solution
Skyworks selected Dynatrace’s automatic and intelligent observability platform to meet its need for full stack observability. After its initial need was met, Skyworks continued to explore other capabilities that Dynatrace could bring to its business through its additional modules, including Application Security. Dynatrace Application Security enabled Skyworks to identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities in its software quickly, with its automatic and precise risk impact assessment. This was particularly valuable when the Log4 vulnerability emerged. The automatic and intelligent observability from Dynatrace eliminated manual, siloed monitoring processes at Skyworks, leading to more efficient, effective, and consistent operations globally. Skyworks is now looking to automate not only the detection, but the remediation of issues in its software as they begin to emerge. It plans to extend these capabilities even further by integrating the Application Security alerts from Dynatrace with its Jira and ServiceNow workspaces, so it can automatically resolve vulnerabilities as they are detected.

Airbus Soars with Wearable Technology
Building an Airbus aircraft involves complex manufacturing processes consisting of thousands of moving parts. Speed and accuracy are critical to business and competitive advantage. Improvements in both would have high impact on Airbus’ bottom line. Airbus wanted to help operators reduce the complexity of assembling cabin seats and decrease the time required to complete this task.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).

Aerospace & Defense Case Study Airbus
For the development of its new wide-body aircraft, Airbus needed to ensure quality and consistency across all internal and external stakeholders. Airbus had many challenges including a very aggressive development schedule and the need to ramp up production quickly to satisfy their delivery commitments. The lack of communication extended design time and introduced errors that drove up costs.
