About The Customer
Target Enterprises is a strategic media placement company based in Los Angeles, California. The company was founded in 1979 and manages advertising campaigns in every state. With about 20 employees, Target delivers research, planning, and media placement, primarily for political campaigns, ballot initiatives, and corporations. The company coordinates media purchases for a large number of political campaigns across the country, which involves pre-paying for ad purchases, meaning they have no AR. This unique accounting need requires a custom “buying” software program.
The Challenge
Target Enterprises had been using Microsoft Dynamics SL for all of its accounting since 1995. Over the years, the vendor identification system in Microsoft Dynamics SL became disorganized and hard to use. The original set-up became cluttered as more elements were added, making it difficult to find the vendor number needed to write a check. The system was not interconnected, making the process of finding AP info for a specific company time-consuming and cumbersome. The company needed a more streamlined and interconnected financial data management system.
The Solution
Target Enterprises decided to upgrade to Acumatica from Microsoft Dynamics SL. The company purchased Acumatica’s Financial Management Suite on a perpetual license, hosted on-premises. Acumatica offered easier access as it is web-based, unlike the older system where a remote desktop connection was needed. The new system also offered an easy-to-use vendor ID system where the user can just start typing the name of the company and it fills it in. Acumatica also offered a more interconnected system, reducing the steps needed to find AP info for a specific company. The company's Acumatica partner, Cliff Hall of Cortekx, was able to convert their original buying software to work with Acumatica, which helps manage the funds more easily.
