About The Customer
YesHelp is a non-profit organization co-founded by Mark Angelo and Ukraine-native Oleg Grodzevich of OneIQ, a Fullstack Intelligence™ software company. The organization was established in response to the war with Russia in February 2022, with the aim of providing direct humanitarian aid to displaced Ukrainian women. YesHelp connects these women to a network of local volunteers who offer emotional support and help with donations, getting settled, child care, pet care, schools, and transportation. The organization focuses on building a social network for women helping women, considering that most of the refugees are female due to martial law restrictions in Ukraine.
The Challenge
YesHelp, a non-profit organization, was established to provide direct humanitarian aid to displaced Ukrainian women by connecting them with a network of local volunteers. The organization was faced with the challenge of creating a simple, secure, and effective communication platform that could overcome language barriers. The platform needed to safeguard users' identities and allow them to communicate in their native languages. The urgency of the situation, due to the ongoing war, required a mature chat solution with autotranslation capabilities that could be implemented quickly. Furthermore, the majority of the refugees being women, due to martial law restrictions on men aged 18-60, necessitated a focus on building a social network for women helping women.
The Solution
YesHelp vetted multiple chat vendors, including Stream and its top competitors, in search of a suitable chat solution. Stream's engineering and support teams were found to be the most helpful and responsive, which led to their selection. Stream's chat solution offered great APIs and fine-grained control over chat customization, which was highly appreciated by YesHelp's CTO, Oleg Grodzevich. Stream, moved by YesHelp's mission, donated its chat solution pro-bono. The chat solution was integrated using Stream's React SDK, with a focus on maintaining user privacy and creating a low barrier to entry for users. Stream's autotranslation functionality was invaluable in overcoming language barriers, making it central to YesHelp's platform.

The company has a long track record of innovative technology solutions. For example, 3M helps its customers optimize parking operations by automating fee collection and other processes. To improve support for this rapidly expanding segment, 3M needed to automate its own data collection and reporting. The company had recently purchased the assets of parking, tolling, and automatic license plate reader businesses, and required better insight into these acquisitions. Jason Fox, Mobile Application Architect at 3M, upped the ante by volunteering to deliver the new app in one weekend. For Fox and his team, these requirements meant turning to the cloud instead of an on-premises datacenter. “My first thought was to go directly to the cloud because we needed to provide access not only to our salespeople, but to resellers who didn’t have access to our internal network,” says Fox. “The cloud just seemed like a logical choice.”
