About The Customer
Dansk Kabel TV is a trusted provider for multitenant homeowners’ associations across Denmark, offering broadband, Internet access, and home security services. The company is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has grown rapidly through acquisition and the delivery of new services. In 2013, Dansk Kabel TV acquired ComX, a Danish service provider, which significantly boosted the company's customer base and added a second network to its infrastructure. Dansk Kabel TV's vision is to continue delivering leading-edge telecommunication services. The company's traffic volumes have increased by 100 percent in the past two years, and High-Definition Television (HDTV) and streaming video content consume a growing percentage of overall bandwidth.
The Challenge
Dansk Kabel TV, a trusted provider for multitenant homeowners’ associations in Denmark, faced the challenge of converging, migrating, and upgrading two networks to deliver rich TV, streaming video, Internet, and future services based on open standards. The company's acquisition of ComX, a Danish service provider, in 2013 significantly increased its customer base and added a second network to its infrastructure. As Dansk Kabel TV began to assimilate the ComX network and services into its existing portfolio, it was also a good time to plan for the future. Growth and current media trends demanded a high-capacity, robust infrastructure. For example, Dansk Kabel TV’s traffic volumes increased 100 percent in the past two years. In addition, High-Definition Television (HDTV) and streaming video content consume a growing percentage of overall bandwidth and show no sign of slowing down. The new network had to scale easily to handle these—and future—trends.
The Solution
Dansk Kabel TV decided to upgrade and future-proof as it consolidated two networks into one. The company retained Brocade NetIron XMR Series routers in its core network for high-speed, 40 Gbps routing. They also deployed Brocade ICX® 6610 Switches for 10 Gbps aggregation. The Brocade ICX 6610 Switch delivers smooth streaming video, crisp audio, and instant response times with ultra-high reliability. Its flexible architecture enables Dansk Kabel TV to easily add performance and capacity, so the company only purchases what it needs at any given time. The Brocade ICX 6610 Switches are stacked in the main POPs, where they are easily managed as a single switch. Dansk Kabel TV also deployed Brocade ICX 7450 Switches to provide a 40 Gbps connection between the core and distribution networks. These switches provide high performance with unprecedented scale-out density, 40 Gbps uplinks, and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) support for future services.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
