About The Customer
Talbot Marketing is a leading provider of promotional products, corporate apparel, and uniforms in Canada. The company helps its clients leverage their brand and market themselves to customers and employees with programs like safety, recognition, incentives, and product launches. Talbot Marketing is recognized as one of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies, an award given after an intense review of the company’s structure, including strategy, capability, commitment, and return on investment. The company's use of innovative technology, such as the implementation of DocuWare, contributed to this prestigious award designation.
The Challenge
Talbot Marketing, one of Canada’s largest providers of promotional products, corporate apparel, and uniforms, was struggling with a manual, paper-based sales order process. The process involved using a manila envelope, referred to as a docket, to collect all documents relating to an order. This included everything from the initial order, to artwork approval, and shipping and invoicing. The docket was then transferred from department to department. This method was time-consuming, prone to errors, and made document retrieval difficult. The management team was unable to effectively manage cash flow, balance workloads, avoid bottlenecks, and ensure no orders were lost or stalled.
The Solution
Talbot Marketing implemented DocuWare to automate its sales order process. Sales orders are now either scanned first or imported electronically into DocuWare where they wait in a digital queue until the order entry staff can input them into the company’s ERP system. Using DocuWare Smart Connect, the data from the ERP system is imported into DocuWare and used to index the invoice. This method eliminates double data entry and ensures that the invoice index fields in DocuWare, and data in the ERP is consistent, making document retrieval quick and easy. The invoice is now indexed by the sales order number and the sales representative’s name and routed through the company’s workflow electronically using digital stamps. Once the artwork has been approved, Talbot places an order with their supplier and the merchandise is shipped directly to the customer. As soon as Talbot receives the invoice from the supplier, it triggers another workflow to invoice their customers.

Engine Informática offers SAP software as a service with IBM
Engine Informática, a Brazil-based company specializing in the implementation of SAP ERP solutions, identified a gap in the market for small and medium-sized companies. The company realized that the fixed infrastructure investment needed to run SAP 24/7, such as data centers, hardware, and support, meant that the per-user cost could be perceived as too high for smaller companies. The challenge was to reduce or eliminate the capital expenditures and implementation costs as much as possible to help reduce the barriers to entry for these smaller companies.

IBM social business software connects and empowers employees for competitive advantage
Superior Group, a company providing workforce productivity solutions, found that its employees worldwide felt disconnected from headquarters, regional offices and each other due to outdated internal communication and collaboration tools.
