About The Customer
AMC Theatres is a leader in the entertainment industry, operating the most productive movie theatres in top markets around the U.S. The company serves approximately 200 million guests each year and is known for its industry-leading guest satisfaction ratings. AMC Theatres is headquartered in the Kansas City area, where their API Platform and Ecommerce team is located. The company is a .NET shop with 12 developers and uses a REST architecture for their partner and private APIs.
The Challenge
AMC Theatres, a leading customer experience provider in the entertainment industry, was facing challenges in managing and maintaining hundreds of endpoints across many APIs and environments. The team was using a combination of unconnected tools and manual processes to cover the same functionality. This approach was inefficient and time-consuming. Onboarding new developers and partners was also a complex process due to the lack of a standardized format for their API. The team needed a solution that could streamline their API development process, improve collaboration among teams, and make the onboarding process easier.
The Solution
AMC Theatres adopted Postman Pro, a tool that provides a complete toolchain for API development, shortly after it became available in early 2016. The team uses Postman Collections to document their partner and private APIs, which has become the standard format for their API. As the team works on a new service, endpoints are added to a shared Postman Collection, allowing quick reference to all the endpoints in every system, across all development environments. Postman Pro's sharing capabilities have also made the onboarding process for new developers and partners much easier. The team can share a Postman Collection and API documentation with developers and partners who might not be familiar with a specific part of the API functionality, enabling them to review it quickly and get started right away.
