About The Customer
Vax is a best-selling floorcare brand in the United Kingdom (UK). Since 1999, it has been part of the floorcare division of Hong Kong-based TTi, a global leader in products for the home improvement and construction industries. TTi also manufactures and markets floorcare appliances in the United States (US) and Europe respectively. Vax— based in the West Midlands— specialises in vacuum, steam cleaners, and carpet washers that prolong the life of carpets. The company employs 350 people and is recognised as a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality floorcare products.
The Challenge
Vax, a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality floorcare products, was facing challenges in producing sales and call centre performance analysis, monitoring supply chain freight movements, and delivering business intelligence (BI) in a visual context for users. The company lacked any specific software for business discovery and was making use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The need for a more efficient and effective solution led to the acquisition of the QlikView business discovery platform in 2006. The initial goal was to track and drive sales and margin performance while helping to control expenses and overall operating costs.
The Solution
Vax deployed QlikView to around 100 users and to every Vax department as its principal source of business discovery analysis. The company built links into QlikView with its business partners and created links to QlikView from its freight forwarders. This innovative Vax specialised link to QlikView is helping the company monitor key performance indicators for product delivery from Asia without using manual processes. Vax is currently planning to upgrade QlikView to take advantage of mobile usage. The way it has set up its existing QlikView platform already allows users access via its internal systems through iPad, iPhone, and Android devices, as well as other mobile devices.
Operational Impact
  • Standardised on QlikView BI for TTi Group
  • Helped managers make correct decisions faster thanks to screen design
  • Delivered real-time performance analysis to management
  • Improved supply chain monitoring
