Schneider Electric develops charging terminals for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) throughout the test territory. In order to meet the timeline required for the project, as well as include the remote monitoring and control necessary to manage charging terminals dispersed through 51 towns and five counties, Schneider Electric turned to Sierra Wireless to assist in a quick development of a service and maintenance connected electric charging terminal.

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) provides public busing services across a 1,600-square mile service region serving 2 million residents' 80% of Utah's entire population. The organization wanted a secure, consistent mobile connectivity for its vehicles to support fare collection, mobile communications and other applications.

The company, a leading manufacturer of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, was seeking to leverage the Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance the capabilities of its large-scale HVAC systems. These systems are typically installed in large developments such as college campuses, commercial office buildings, and hospitals. The company was particularly interested in enabling predictive maintenance, as servicing major HVAC systems is expensive and a prolonged outage can cause significant disruption. However, implementing a predictive maintenance system involves building out a complex IoT architecture. A large number of sensors and devices have to be connected to a centralized management system. The company may have hundreds if not thousands of HVAC assets in the field, all of different types and models. These devices may be spread over different regions, which means managing and negotiating with multiple network operators. To enable remote monitoring, there also has to be a stable and secure connectivity.

Digitalli, a Paris-based audiovisual communication company, specializes in creating, designing, and producing point-of-sales films and adverts for luxury retailers. The company faced a significant challenge in monitoring its installed equipment to ensure its proper functioning. Any sudden malfunction could negatively impact the consumer experience, the visual aesthetic of a store, and ultimately, sales and brand image. Regular maintenance checks and fixing screens during unexpected outages proved to be expensive. Digitalli sought an IoT solution with an advanced management platform for remote monitoring of all network assets. However, deploying an IoT solution in a retail environment was not straightforward due to the need for multiple internal approvals and security clearances. Digitalli wanted to implement a cellular connectivity solution to connect its assets independently of its retail partners' systems. However, managing multiple SIM vendors and product inventories, tracking costs across different jurisdictions, and monitoring data consumption posed significant challenges.

The customer, a leader in security systems for highly secure commercial installations, was looking to leverage advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, networking technology, and sensors to develop a comprehensive surveillance system. The system was to be deployed across various sites and required stationary components like surveillance towers and a robust back-end cloud infrastructure. The primary challenge was to ensure secure and reliable high-speed connectivity for the system, which was crucial for real-time data collection and transmission.
