Scope AR collaborated with one of their large industrial clients to perform a side-byside comparison of Scope AR’s WorkLink software, an Augmented Reality software, versus using traditional paperbased methods to create manufacturing instructions. The client chose a complex assembly process for a proprietary spring-loaded hatch.The assembly process contained over thirty steps that involved things such as fitting components at specific angles to ensure proper assembly, screwing down different screw types in correct locations, and grabbing parts that had similar exteriors.The client chose this assembly process because it contained common steps that are frequently used in other processes as well as unique steps that are confusing and if done wrong would cause severe quality issues.

The challenge that the Smart Airline Baggage Management testbed is addressing is bringing together and integrating disparate and isolated airline enterprise applications and systems into a single solution to better handle smart baggage across the airline and aviation ecosystems. GOALS The Smart Airline Baggage Management testbed, part of a broader aviation ecosystem vision, is aimed at reducing the instances of delayed, damaged and lost bags leading to lower economic risk exposure to the airlines; increasing the ability to track and report on baggage including location and weight changes to prevent theft and loss; and improve customer satisfaction through better communication including offering new value-added services to frequent flyers. The testbed is also aimed at helping airlines address the new baggage handling requirements set out by IATA in Resolution 753 requiring airlines to implement more comprehensive acquisition and delivery solutions for baggage tracking and handling by June 2018. This target is also outlined in the broader IATA 2015 White Paper titled “Simplifying the Business.”

Unmanned weather stations play an essential role in the effort to analyze and predict the world's ever-changing weather patterns. The unmanned stations collect and store large amounts of weather data and then download the data at regular intervals to a back-end host for analysis and long-term storage. Since the plant’s existing AGV system used an expensive PLC-based control system there weren’t enough functions to meet the new control requirements, the company decided to upgrade and shift to a compact PC-based PAC control system ideal for the new compact vehicle design, capable of integrating with upper management systems using a single software application to replace the original two software applications.
