About The Customer
Patty’s Cakes and Desserts is a retail storefront bakery located in Fullerton, California. The bakery offers online ordering and local delivery of baked goods. To maintain quality control, the company employs its own team of delivery drivers. The bakery makes 360 deliveries every month, which includes 60 wedding cakes and 300 smaller items. The bakery delivers to many of the college campuses in the area, including Fullerton College, Chapman University, and University of California Irvine. It also delivers to hotels and other businesses in the area.
The Challenge
Patty’s Cakes and Desserts, a retail storefront bakery in Fullerton, California, experienced a 400% increase in delivery demand during the pandemic. The bakery was initially using a third-party delivery company to manage its deliveries, which included 360 deliveries every month, comprising 60 wedding cakes and 300 smaller items. However, the delivery company ceased operations at the start of the pandemic. This left Patty’s Cakes and Desserts with a significant challenge of meeting the increased demand for deliveries while also having to figure out a new logistics solution.
The Solution
In response to the challenge, Patty’s Cakes and Desserts implemented the Onfleet route optimization platform in May 2020. Onfleet took over all aspects of the company’s delivery and routing. The platform's user-friendly interface and notifications provided control and visibility to the delivery process. Despite not being an expert coder, Gomez, a representative from the bakery, was able to improve the company's delivery operations through Onfleet’s API. The technology allowed the bakery to focus on what they do best, while it handled the complex logistics.

Airport SCADA Systems Improve Service Levels
Modern airports are one of the busiest environments on Earth and rely on process automation equipment to ensure service operators achieve their KPIs. Increasingly airport SCADA systems are being used to control all aspects of the operation and associated facilities. This is because unplanned system downtime can cost dearly, both in terms of reduced revenues and the associated loss of customer satisfaction due to inevitable travel inconvenience and disruption.

Improving Production Line Efficiency with Ethernet Micro RTU Controller
Moxa was asked to provide a connectivity solution for one of the world's leading cosmetics companies. This multinational corporation, with retail presence in 130 countries, 23 global braches, and over 66,000 employees, sought to improve the efficiency of their production process by migrating from manual monitoring to an automatic productivity monitoring system. The production line was being monitored by ABB Real-TPI, a factory information system that offers data collection and analysis to improve plant efficiency. Due to software limitations, the customer needed an OPC server and a corresponding I/O solution to collect data from additional sensor devices for the Real-TPI system. The goal is to enable the factory information system to more thoroughly collect data from every corner of the production line. This will improve its ability to measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and translate into increased production efficiencies. System Requirements • Instant status updates while still consuming minimal bandwidth to relieve strain on limited factory networks • Interoperable with ABB Real-TPI • Small form factor appropriate for deployment where space is scarce • Remote software management and configuration to simplify operations
