Banta Corporation is a technology and market leader in printing and supply-chain management, with over 140 years of experience. The company offers a wide range of solutions, including commercial printing, direct mail, financial printing, product customization, print fulfillment, forms and labels, logistics, call centers, transactional print-and-mail, print management, online services, digital photography, color services, and content and database management. Banta's IT staff is responsible for supporting corporate business objectives by managing a distributed network of approximately 75 routers, 125 switches, 20 firewalls, 50 access points, and 6 IP Telephony servers.

As more business units/sites opted for IT staff to manage their networks, the number of devices to monitor increased weekly. This required either hiring additional staff or finding an automated tool to efficiently manage the network. Manually gathering information was time-consuming, taking weeks to complete.
