About The Customer
Bosch is a global manufacturing company with over 410,000 employees. The company operates in 31 countries and has a wide range of operations, from automotive parts to home appliances. Bosch is known for its commitment to innovation and quality, and it has a strong reputation in the manufacturing industry. The company has been on a digital transformation journey, looking for ways to automate tasks and improve efficiency across its operations. Bosch's stakeholders have a strong vision for the potential of automation technology and see it as a catalyst for change across the entire organization.
The Challenge
Bosch, a global manufacturing company, was in need of a strong, collaborative automation technology partner to accelerate its digital transformation. The company was looking for a solution that could help them evaluate their operations, design and implement automated processes, and uncover ways to scale their efforts. The challenge was to find a technology partner that could meet Bosch's rigorous cloud security needs, critical for a company of its size and global footprint. Additionally, the company was also using RPA tools, so the new technology partner needed to have tight integrations to unlock even more value from across Bosch’s technology stack.
The Solution
Bosch partnered with Catalytic, an automation technology provider, to accelerate its digital transformation. Catalytic helped Bosch evaluate its operations, design and implement automated processes, and uncover ways to scale their efforts. The ease of building automations with Catalytic allowed Bosch to quickly scale them throughout the company and realize value. Catalytic’s ability to orchestrate processes that include humans in the loop meant that more processes could ultimately be automated. Catalytic’s platform met Bosch’s rigorous cloud security needs, and its tight integrations with RPA tools unlocked even more value from across Bosch’s technology stack. In just 18 months, Bosch’s use of Catalytic grew from a pilot automated process to 5 million automated tasks annually across 31 countries.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).
